Logbook Beta

A simple, free pilot logbook that runs entirely in your browser. No account and no server: your entries are saved only on this device.

Beta: your logbook is stored only in this browser. While the logbook is in beta, entries are saved in this browser’s local storage on this device and are never sent to AFS 777 or anyone else. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing or switching devices will lose them, so export a backup regularly (Backup & restore, below). The pilot is responsible for the accuracy of their records. Check them against 14 CFR § 61.51.

Instructor e-signatures (training received, 61.51(h)(2)): choose Sign on a flight with dual received, a training-device session with an instructor, or a ground lesson. Describe the training first. The instructor ticks an intent box and draws a signature, and the entry is stamped (date, time, name, certificate number, RE/expiration date), locked and given a SHA-256 integrity check. A supervising PIC can sign a PIC training program entry the same way (PIC sign-off, 61.51(e)(1)(iv)). Signed entries can’t be edited: use Void & re-issue to correct one (the original is kept, marked VOID and left out of totals). Signatures are saved only on this device and there are no signer accounts, so this can’t prove who signed. It is not an FAA-approved system. A future version with signer accounts and a server-side, tamper-evident record would be stronger.

Add an entry

The fields follow 14 CFR 61.51 (pilot logbooks): date, total time, departure and arrival point (or lesson location), aircraft or training device, type of pilot experience or training, conditions of flight, instrument approaches with safety pilot, and instructor-signed training (61.51(b), (g), (h)). Read 61.51. Only the fields for the kind of entry you pick are shown.

Entry type

Glider launches Used for the “Number of” block of the 8710-1 sample.

More times, route & aircraft

Day is filled in for you (total minus night) if you leave it blank.

Instrument & approaches

Approaches 0 Type and location of each, e.g. ILS 15 KORL (61.51(g)(3)).

    Training received

After saving, the instructor chooses Sign on the entry and adds their name, certificate number and expiration or recent experience date (61.51(h)(2)).

    PIC training program (optional)

For PIC time logged while training under a supervising PIC in an approved program, 61.51(e)(1)(iv). The supervising PIC signs with their CFI certificate number.

    Backup & restore

Save this file to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or your computer to keep a copy.

The backup (.json) includes every flight, instructor signatures and their integrity hashes, the endorsements you added to the logbook, plus your signed endorsements and saved instructor details from the Endorsements page.

    Totals

    Currency

A helper only, from the entries in this browser (void entries excluded). Passenger currency counts takeoffs and landings by category and class (61.57(a), (b)), and doesn’t check type ratings or whether you were the sole manipulator of the controls. Instrument currency counts approaches with a type and location, holding and intercepting/tracking courses (an approach counts as tracking), in flight or a device (61.57(c)). Check 14 CFR 61.57 before you fly.

Sample 8710-1 Section III Record of Pilot Time, worked out from your entries

SAMPLE - not an FAA form; verify against your logbook; submit through IACRA

A worksheet laid out like Section III of FAA Form 8710-1 (edition 03/26), filled in from the non-void entries in this browser. It is not the FAA form and nothing is sent anywhere. Check each number against your logbook, then enter what applies to the certificate or rating you’re applying for in IACRA. Each column’s source is in its tooltip and in the footnotes under the table.

      Endorsements

Signed endorsements you chose to add from the Endorsements page. Each one is a locked copy with the instructor’s signature and integrity check. To correct one, void it on the Endorsements page and sign a new copy. Endorsements are included in Export backup and printed after your flights.

No endorsements in the logbook yet. On the Endorsements page, sign an endorsement and choose Add to logbook.
